Vision for Greenwich Hospital

It is our responsibility to evolve our services as the needs of our community evolve. Rates of cancer continue to rise in Connecticut, and the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center at Greenwich is designed to meet this growing and critical need. Patients should not have to decide between community care close to home and traveling further to seek more advanced expertise. The core of our vision for the center is to provide the personalized care of a community hospital, with the benefit of the extensive resources and expertise of the Smilow Cancer Hospital and the Yale New Haven Health System. This ensures access to the top doctors in the field, and the most advanced treatments, while also giving our patients the personalized care and convenience that they deserve.

Cancer affects all areas of patients’ lives, and cancer care needs to reflect that. We believe it is essential to go above and beyond medical care to provide all-encompassing patient support. That’s why we are committed to providing wraparound, multi-disciplinary services at our center. Our patients will be surrounded by all of the sub-specialties they need, above and beyond medical treatment. In addition to physicians, nurse specialists, and pharmacists, patients will have access to social work support, financial counseling and more. Having their entire treatment team on site means that patients and their loved ones will not have to spend precious time in the car commuting between appointments.
In building this center and establishing its focus areas, it was important to directly respond to our community’s most pressing needs – and oncology care is one the top needs in our community today. The treatment team that is prepared to join our center is the best of the best, and fully aligned with our vision to provide the most cutting-edge care in a personal, community hospital setting.
As part of the Yale New Haven Health System and the Smilow Cancer Hospital, we are starting from a place of clear strength. But building this center is a recognition that we need to do more to better serve our community, and it is a responsibility that we do not take lightly. I am confident that the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center at Greenwich will provide our patients care and treatment of the highest quality.
For all of us at Greenwich Hospital, it is our honor and privilege to serve our community, and this is one more step in our ongoing journey to provide the best possible care.
